EVENT DETAILS

In collaboration with the New-York Historical Society and Oxford University Press, the Bryant Park Reading Room presents a series of free lectures to stimulate your mind on popular topics including politics, biography, Civil War history, and more.

Americans looked to expand towards the end of the nineteenth century: they desired new lands, developed innovative technologies, and, consequently, were forced to acknowledge slavery. Engaging and comprehensive, Brenda Wineapple’s newest book, Ecstatic Nation, explores these conflicted years of American history and the transformation of a vast continent into one nation, indivisible.
